Introduction to Therapeutic Sound workshop - EARLY BIRD discount

Home studio set up for a practice session

I’m starting to plan what we’ll be doing at the Introduction to Therapeutic Sound workshop on Sunday 14th October.   My aim is to make it as hands-on, practical and experiential as possible, with a particular focus on developing our deep listening skills as well as our practical & playing skills.

This 4-hour intensive workshop is designed for anyone interested in finding out more about therapeutic sound: the huge potential of sound to help us deeply relax, to release blockages and tensions both physical & mental, to help with anxiety and depression, to relieve pain, to reduce anger, to energise & focus.    Maybe you’re someone who attends my (or other people’s) gong baths and you’re intrigued to discover what is actually going on while you lie there with your eyes shut(!) and maybe develop your own therapeutic sound practice.  Or maybe you work in a related field: a  community musician, music teacher, yoga teacher etc and want to find out how therapeutic sound could be incorporated into your work.

We’ll be a small group (no more than 8) so there will be lots of opportunity to be hands-on with the different instruments.  These will include: three large gongs (Paiste 38” symphonic tam tam, Meinl 32” Planetary Mercury gon, and UFIP 28” celestial gong), Burmese spinning gongs, Himalayan singing bowls, quartz crystal singing bowls, Javanese bronze gamelan instruments, and other therapeutic percussion.  We’ll also look at using the voice - chanting and over-toning.

More details of what we’ll be doing are included in the event listing over on the Schedule page.

We’ll be in my home studio (a really lovely, spacious & tranquil space) just by Clapham Common.  Easy to get to by tube or bus, and free parking if you need to drive here.

The cost of attending is £80, or £70 early bird if you book before the end of September.

Included in the price is a space for you at the gong bath that evening at Synchronicity Studio just up the road.  Concessions available.

If you’re interested, get in touch ASAP to take advantage of the early bird discount!
